What does battery State of Health (SOH) mean?+
State of Health (SOH) describes battery condition relative to its original condition, according to the test method. It is different from State of Charge, which tells you how full the battery is today. Available readings depend on the vehicle and test. Read our guide to EV battery SOH and battery degradation.
What’s the difference between Autel and AVILOO FLASH?+
The standard package uses Autel MX900SOH to assess supported battery data and produce a battery health report. Adding AVILOO FLASH gives you an independent battery assessment and a separate certificate. Each test uses its own method, so the percentages can differ, even for the same car on the same day. Both packages include the free Autel vehicle diagnostic scan.
Is the Autel battery test CARA approved?+
Yes. The Autel SOH Blitz battery test used with our MX900SOH holds Battery Health Check CARA Approved® certification. CARA is the Car Remarketing Association Europe. The certification applies to the battery test; the included vehicle diagnostic scan is a separate service. View CARA’s list of approved tests.
What does the free Autel diagnostic scan include?+
With every battery health check, we scan all electronic systems that our Autel tool can access on your vehicle for stored fault codes. These may include the braking, airbag, drivetrain and body systems. The scan is included at no extra charge in either package. Coverage varies by vehicle; any fault requiring diagnosis or repair may need further investigation.
How should I prepare the vehicle?+
We confirm the required charge level and preparation for your exact vehicle in advance. Arrange the owner’s permission, the keys and access to the car at a suitable agreed location. Please tell us about any existing battery warnings when arranging the visit.
What happens if a check finds a concern?+
We explain the finding and the limits of the test. An unusual result may need investigation by an EV specialist or the manufacturer. A battery report alone does not establish the repair cost or confirm that a warranty claim will be accepted.
Can you test every electric car or plug-in hybrid?+
Coverage varies by make, model, year and battery version. We check compatibility before confirming a visit and agree the test and report type in advance. For AVILOO, you can also use its vehicle coverage list and select “For Business — AVILOO FLASH Test”.
How long does the check take?+
Timing depends on the vehicle and selected package. AVILOO describes the FLASH analysis itself as taking around three minutes, without a discharge drive. The full visit also includes setup, the agreed checks and a report explanation. We confirm appointment length before booking.
Does this replace a full mechanical inspection?+
No. The battery check and included Autel diagnostic scan assess battery data and supported electronic systems at the time of testing. They do not replace a physical inspection of mechanical condition or accident damage, and a clear scan cannot rule out every fault. The results do not guarantee future battery life, driving range or warranty acceptance.
Can you meet me at the seller’s location?+
Yes, at an agreed suitable location within our service area. The vehicle owner must give permission, provide access and follow any preparation instructions. Please arrange this with the seller before booking.
Is a higher SOH percentage always better?+
It can be useful, but the number needs context: the car’s age, mileage, battery type, test method and other findings all matter. Different test methods can report different values. There is no single percentage that makes every used EV a good or bad purchase.
